Why go natural?60% of what we apply to our skin from body lotions to antiperspirants is absorbed, and even more when the skin is wet. During pregnancy to protect your body and your baby from harmful chemicals you should avoid the following ingredients: Petrochemicals, Parabens, Phthlates, Artificial Colours and flovourings, Ethoxylated alcohols, Artificial musks, Parfum/frangrance, Formaledehyde.... Why?? Studies have shown that there was substantial amount of paraben compounds in breast cancer tumors. It was suggested that parabens found in underarm deodorants migrated to the breast cells and eventually caused the growth of tumors cells in the breast. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen (causes cancer). Causes allergic, irritant and contact dermatitis, headaches and chronic fatigue. The vapour is extremely irritating to the eyes, nose and throat (mucous membranes). Fragrance on a label can indicate the presence of up to four thousand separate ingredients, many toxic or carcinogenic. Symptoms reported to the USA FDA include headaches, dizziness, allergic rashes, skin discoloration, violent coughing and vomiting, and skin irritation. Clinical observation proves fragrances can affect the central nervous system, causing depression, hyperactivity, and irritability. There are many reasons to avoid the above ingredients - please refer to a specilaist website and the following articles for more research Suggested links for helpful and professional advice: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/isitsafeto/chemicalsexpert/ http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/2531.aspx http://www.guildford.gov.uk/GuildfordWeb/Environment/VirtualHouse/TopTips/ http://www.healthypages.co.uk/newsitem.php?news=5933 http://www.chemicalsafeskincare.co.uk/chemicals-in-skincare-pregnancy/
